Stop trying so hard

I've been thinking a lot about what I'd say to me ten years ago.

Number one thing I'd say:

Stop trying so damn hard.

And it's not just the 35 years old me.

I meet so many people who are trying super hard.

Trying to become something.

To be someone.

To achieve.

To succeed.

Thinking that they'll "arrive" somehow.

One day they'll be successful.

They'll finally feel "good enough".

Well, I've got news for ya.

You've already arrived.

You arrived the day you came out of your mother's womb.…

Say yes

If there's one lesson I've learned over this past year, it is to say yes when your intuition speaks.

So many amazing things have come to me in the past year as a result of me following my hunches. Almost always against my so-called "better judgment".

But boy, has it paid off.

Let me give you one simple example.

A week ago, Matt Newbill started as the new COO of Simplero.

Here's how it happened.

It started with Kasim using Simplero and submitting a support ticket, which I helped him with. H…

Don't waste a good crisis of meaning

I was feeling completely beat.

I was done with a day full of meetings for the day at 4 pm, and I was ready to get to do some "real" work.

Or so I thought.

But instead, I was tired.

Lethargic.

Depressed, even.

Bored to tears.

In other words, I was in a crisis of meaning.

You know you're in a crisis of meaning when you're asking questions like "why am I doing this?" "what's the point?" "why bother?" "who cares?".

So I ended up just making dinner, walking the dog, watching some video, and …

Culture is destiny

I'm fascinated with culture these days.

If you get the culture right, everything else takes care of itself.

Culture is destiny.

Now, you may think this doesn't apply to you because you're a solo entrepreneur.

But it does.

Your culture is you. It's how you operate. It's how you make decisions. It's what you do.

Your systems. Your processes. Your discipline. Your passion. Your play. Your fun.

Most of us tend to focus on the outcome we want. The results.

The win.

The money.

The customers.…

Emotional turmoil part deux

Last week, we were talking about handling emotional turmoil as entrepreneurs.

It was inspired by this tweet from David Cancel, founder of Drift:

The hardest thing for an entrepreneur is not what you think.

No one ever talks about it but this will make or break you.

People? Process? Product?

Nope.

It's dealing with the emotional turmoil. Managing the emotional rollercoaster is the hardest skill you must master.

I told you my number one technique for dealing with emotional turmoil, and …

Emotional turmoil part one

I saw this pinned tweet from David Cancel, founder of Drift.

He says:

The hardest thing for an entrepreneur is not what you think.

No one ever talks about it but this will make or break you.

People? Process? Product?

Nope.

It's dealing with the emotional turmoil. Managing the emotional rollercoaster is the hardest skill you must master.

How are you doing with that piece?

I have a sense, if you're part of the Simplero family, you're above average on this.

If that's true for you, you …

Who's got your money?

I got an email from Grant Cardone today with a topic that I wanted to share with you because I love it so much.

It's the question in the subject line:

Who's got your money?

If you want to make more money, well, then you gotta figure out who currently has the money that you want, and what exchange you can make with them, so they willingly hand over that money to you.

All of the money in the world currently resides in someone's hands. Some person, or group of persons, control the purse str…

The big three

Something I've started to do religiously is deciding on my big three for the day.

Each day, I decide on the top three things I need to get done today.

The most strategically important thing to get done.

The thing that's going to move me forward.

It could even be just one or two things. It doesn't have to be three.

It really helps me focus.

I can have a dozen other to-dos, and if I get to them, that's great. But my big three, they always get done.

Unless shit's really going down.

It's bee…

Webinars and Simplero - partners to grow your list

By now you probably know how important it is to always be building your list.

It's the backbone of internet marketing - the foundation of your business.

There are many ways to build your list, but few are as powerful, effective, and low-maintenance as webinars.

Think about it...

What better way to introduce somebody to your brand and products than face to face?

The entire goal of marketing is to connect with people - to get them to know, like and trust you (without lying or being manipulati…

Consistency

We have a new saying here at Simplero HQ:

Consistency will bring us farther than inspiration ever will.

It's something we picked up from our friend Darrell.

Darrell is awesome. He's helping us grow Simplero, and he's been such a great resource ... and it doesn't hurt that he's a great guy to boot.

It's another way to say something we've been saying around here for a while: Lifestyle over diet.

I like how Darrell says it, though.

And we can't hear the message often enough.

Where do you nee…
