Beth, the powerhouse social worker turned Head of Concierge Services

Beth - Employee Spotlight

To describe our colleague Beth, I asked our leadership team for some help.

Who is Beth to them? What is she like?

Here are some of the words they used:

Amidst words like blazing, funny, caring, and pajamas, a common theme arose – "Beth can."

"Beth is always there to help," Deanna told me. "She has a special ability to make you feel like you've been friends forever. And if you end up in a new country with no luggage, she is kind enough share pajamas and socks."

Our CEO Calvin added, …

The fabulous 5 new features that will change the way you do webdesign with Simplero

blog recap image

If you’ve looked at your website builder lately, you might have noticed a few new additions.

That’s because we recently went live in the Facebook group to talk about the what, why, and how of our redesigned website and branding as well as give you the tools to do it too (new features!). If you didn't get to attend the event, you can watch it below.

Here's a quick summary of what we talked about:

  • We brought a bolder, more masculine look to Simplero to balance out our very develo…

A Marketing Director Who Cares

Employee Spotlight! (5).png

What can I say about Kasim?

He's hilarious.  He's kind.  He's smart as can-be and works harder than almost anyone I know, which is saying something. He is clear about who he is and where he's going.  Working with him is a joy, not only because he gets my jokes but also because he has lots of really great ideas that move this company forward.  He knows his stuff.

I don't know all his backstory, but he's dropped a few hints that the road has not always been smooth for him and that p…

Thoughts on a Simplero Rebrand

Screenshot (222)

If you’ve been to simplero.com recently, you’ve probably noticed that it looks quite different.

To say that we’re all really excited about the new website would be an understatement. Let me explain why.

Not only is simplero.com now a proper Simplero website, built using the same website builder that most of you use and love. That means that anyone on our team can easily edit any page on the site, which will make it much easier to keep the site up to date as we add new features and experiment w…

Sherrie's got a superpower

Employee Spotlight! (4).png

Sherrie will surprise you.  She sits there, steadily observing and thinking and not saying much.  But when you give her a chance, a treasure trove of smart, inspired and caring thoughts will spill forth.

Like Deanna, Sherrie worked as a VA until she joined Simplero's Support Team. Her gift is in interaction with people and she now works 'live' with account holders, either in a group setting (our weekly Empower Hour Q&A calls) or one-on-one in Concierge.

We joked on our retr…

The busy mother of 4 who rose from working as a Simplero VA to becoming the team’s beloved Chief of Staff

Employee Spotlight! (3).png

Meet Deanna, who started out as a Virtual Assistant in a company that offers help to Simplero users but soon moved on to work in the Simplero support team.

And it didn’t stop there, because her very deep knowledge of Simplero combined with good humor, wonderful personal and organizational skills and a strong work ethic soon made it clear that she was needed elsewhere in the organization...

Earlier this year, she became the Chief of Staff. A title that is pretty hard to wear, one would say…

Eight Things I Learned in Denmark

Members of the Simplero staff went on retreat to a particularly beautiful corner of Denmark recently.  We gathered there to work on the business of Simplero rather than in the business of Simplero.

Or rather, in addition to, because we tried hard not to let the day to day work go unfulfilled.

For any business to succeed, its members must spend time on strategy and big-picture-thinking work.  We must figure out where we are going, how we are going to get there and what systems and structures w…

What We Are Reading

Simplero's culture strongly supports staff development and personal growth.

We are a group of people who read, watch, explore and discuss.  Whether it's something intellectual, something funny, something challenging or something affirming, we love to share what we encounter.  In fact, we sometimes give each other assignments ("read this, let's talk about it") when we come across something really good.

So it occurred to us to share with you as well.  We're going to make this a regular thing, pr…

Say hello to Val!

Please help me welcome the latest addition to the Simplero team, Val Geisler. She joins us to head up onboarding and marketing, something you should be able to feel shortly.

The story of how this came to be is instructional, so allow me to share.

As you may know, we've been searching for someone to do this for us for a while, unsuccessfully. We've had a few hires, but they didn't quite work out. I had a feeling that the right person would be someone who was already part of the community, who k…

Our Server Had Babies!

First, I hope everyone's safe. My heart aches for what happened in Paris last week. But like my French friend Orane said, we must go on like normal. We can't let them win.

So on to today's topic: Our server had babies!

Well, not exactly. But where there were previously 3 of them, we now have 7. Or so.

Before, we had mainly one server that ran everything, with two secondary database servers, just so we had instant backups of our primary database, in case a hard drive started to fail. It's serv…
