WHAT'S FRESH?
THESE ARE THE RECENT CHANGES TO SIMPLERO
Modals will now warn if you try to close them without saving when you have changed the contents.
If you click a magic login link, and you're already logged in as that user, we just redirect you straight to the content, even if it's expired.
Fixed a bug where the counters on a Newsletter wouldn’t get updated when you used the “Send immediately” option.
Added the button to write a new forum post to the top of the list of posts, in addition to the the bottom, on mobile, to make it easier for people to contribute.
Fixed some overlapping elements on the hamburger menu on membership sites on mobile
As part of our on-going quest to dramatically improve Simplero for SEO purposes (since we're currently investing heavily in SEO for ourselves as a company), site redirects now default to being permanent. This is better for SEO purposes. Not sure why, honestly, but the temporary redirects get flagged as a techincal SEO problem. You can still choose whether or not you want a temp or permanent redirect. We haven't changed any of your existing redirects. But when you create a new one, the default will be the most SEO-optimized option. Because we've got your back!
At the same time, we've also added new filters on the redirects table.
Nerd alert: We have upgraded jQuery on sites from 2.2 to 3.6.1 and changed how it loads for better performance. If you have added custom code or tracking code that uses jQuery, please test it. If you’re not sure what any of this means, you’re probably not affected. Even if you do know what this means, chances are you aren’t affected.
You can now choose the columns “Broadcasts’ and ‘Last broadcast at’ on the Products table, so you can see how many Broadcasts you’ve sent to that product, and when the last one was.
Go to Sales > Products, and click the Columns button, then choose those two columns to add.
Add 'Copy of' to course name when duplicating to the same site (feature request from George)
You can now choose the Email template header image from the media library. Also, you will find the existing header images moved to the media library.
Now easily resubscribe contact(s) to a list using the new action 'Resubscribe to a list' on the contacts page. Thanks George.
You can now filter the Purchases table by amount received, so you can quickly select your best (or worst) customers. Thanks to George Kao for the suggestion!
We've made some minor changes to the way we display prices on the price switcher on the order form
If you're interested, here are the changes:
- No more decimals when the price is a whole number. i.e '$10.00 in 2 payments' becomes '$10 in 2 payments'.
- Changed how commitment clause is displayed. i.e '30 days minimum commitment' becomes '30 days commitment'.
- Changed how free periods are displayed. i.e 'nothing for the first month' becomes '1 month free trial'.
- Changed how some pricing periods are displayed.
- $X per month for the first 60 days -> $X per month for 60 days
- $X per month for the next 90 days -> then $X per month for 90 days
- $X per month after that -> then $X per month
NOTE: This only concerns the pricing switcher on the order form. Nothing else.
Fixed an issue where course progress on course member analytics table would show people having completed less than 100% when they were actually complete.
Applied new header style to the Contacts screens
As discussed in our Facebook group a little while back, we have now removed the “this course is only available to people who purchased these products” setting under Access Control on a course.
Instead set the course publish status to Dripped, and check the box next to the course on Product Content screen to provide access when the product is purchased.
Any courses that were using the old setting have been reconfigured so they work the same. Nothing needed on your end.
Using our new header style on Newsletters
Fixed an issue where images in the 'Benefits' section overflowed on mobile causing unnecessary horizontal scrollbars
We'll now show a login link while showing course preview to unauthorized users (if you've set it up to show custom message to people who don't have access). Thanks, Sherrie!
Fixed a bug where landing page view stats would show the views in the wrong hour (was lumping them together on a 12-hour clock!)
Changed the name from Invoice to Receipt. As Tad correctly pointed out, invoice is a request for payment, receipt is acknowledgement of a payment that's already happened. Thanks, Tad!
Exclude admins and staff from course lesson statistics. Thanks, Nicole.
Fixed that some settings for a Course didn’t get copied when duplicating a course.
You can now sort comments by reactions and replies (Thanks to George, again 💪🏻😆)
Fixed that creating affiliate link with super long URL would give a 500 error
SEO Improvements
When a landing page is expired, you can now make the redirect to a new URL permanent, improving your technical SEO.
PS. We’re also hard at work at improving PageSpeed ranking, which will help overall with technical SEO. All of this coming now because we’re investing in SEO for Simplero, and whenever we solve a problem for us, we look for ways to solve it for all of you as well. That’s how we roll.
Resend to replies/non-replies
You can now easily send a Broadcast to just the people who replied or didn't reply to another Broadcast.
This lets you follow up specifically with those people who are most engaged. Or if you're requesting a reply, you can follow up with those who didn't reply the first time.
How to do this:
- To resend a Broadcast to people who replied/didn't reply, click the three dot (...) menu on the Broadcast you want to resend, and chose the relevant option.
- When sending a new Broadcast, choose as recipients the original Broadcast, and select as filter at the top either 'Replied' or 'Did not reply'.
New navigation style
We’re in the process of rolling out an update to the top navigation in admin - that means the top bar with the menu, and the 2nd bar with the page title and tabs.
The goal is to both modernize the interface a bit, without disrupting existing users too much, while also solving some navigation problems that we’ve had for a while. Specifically, when you navigate into more complex objects, like Lists, Products, and Affiliate Programs, it’s super easy to get lost in the layers and layers of navigation.
As part of this project, we’ve released a new navigation header style on the page for a single media file.
More will follow.
If you’re someone creating videos on Simplero for your customers, I’d hold off on re-recording till we’re done. It’ll probably be another 4-6 weeks.
SEO Optimization
Disallow pages with ?ref or ?simpleroobjectid parameters
SEO improvement: Canonical URL
Site pages that have pagination, eg. blog and blog category pages, would have the canonical URL set to the first page of the pagination, instead of the page you were on, which is a technical SEO problem. This has been fixed now, so they include the page number.
Sort products in 'Add a purchase' list on Contacts screen by internal name (thanks, Kasper)
Show details of action links in Broadcast summary sidebar
Cleaned up link edit screen for links in emails
SEO Improvement: Permanent redirect by default
Make redirects permanent when changing the URL of a page or blog post. Since this is the new permanent home for the new page, that’s both more accurate and better for SEO.
We’re working hard right now to dramatically improve Simplero for SEO performance, this is just a small piece of it.
Cleaned up the colors and logos screen in account settings
Send Notification emails (from Triggers, Automations, or other contact actions) from account support email, rather than action@your.simplero.com, which is guaranteed to bounce. Hat tip, George Kao!
Moved account support email from the support tickets settings screen to the account settings screen.
Resend Broadcast to non-clicks (thanks, David)
You can now easily resend a broadcast to everyone who didn’t click a link in a given Broadcast.
Just go to the Broadcast under Broadcasts > Delivered, and click the button “Resend to people who…”
Now you can also choose people who “Did not click any links,” in addition at the other options that we had already.
Thanks, David for the suggestion over on the feature request board.
Made columns on the Affiliate Programs table sortable, and added three new columns:
Incoming amount
Paid out amount
Refunded amount
(also sortable)
Added a column for paid out amount to the Affiliates table so you can easily see how much any given affiliate has been paid over their lifetime
Fixed that we said 'Active participants wanting marketing' when what it actually meant was they wanted content, not marketing. Thanks Anja and Siif.
Improved the design of conditions block found on automations, triggers, prices and segments
Simplified the Price edit screen
Simplified the Configure pages for Lists, Products, Courses, and Affiliate Programs
Added Created and Updated timestamps columns to all tables that have them (thanks, George)
Added the ability to one-click resubscribe in case the subscriber user did the 1-click unsubscribe by accident. Thanks, Bente!
Renamed Financials to Invoices, 'cause that's what it is. Moved Tax Report and Transactions into the “...” menu in the upper right corner of Invoices. Tax Report is also available in Settings > Taxes.
Simplifying the navigation by getting rid of the tabs underneath the main page title in most cases. We're moving towards a much cleaner and less confusing navigation one step at a time. Stay tuned...
Improve Expand/Collapse performance on courses overview. Fixed the display issue on highlight course lesson when expand/collapse
