Get more help
The biggest game-changer in my business recently has been getting more help.
We've hired so many additional team members, we've engaged agencies, consultants, and it's been really great. It seems the more people we add, the more money we make. That's pretty awesome.
In fact, the picture on the right was our latest all-hands call (and some couldn't make it!).
It's completely changed how I think about my work and my business. At this point, I don't "do" much of anything. I set the vision and the strategy, I make the connections and build the relationships, and assist other people in doing all the work.
There are some things that only I can do, such a show up on a live coaching call with our Course Launch Challenge.
Everything else, someone else is doing.
It's a completely different way of operating. It's being the conductor, not the instrumentalist.
I used to be all about doing the work and doing the work myself.
This has been a new skill to learn for sure.
But if you're serious about your business, it's one that's well worth learning.
We've learned so much about sourcing, vetting, onboarding, training, leading, managing, setting expectations, knowing when to begin a relationship, and when to end it, it's insane.
Everything important in my business, someone else is accountable for, and I'm the leader that sets the vision and the direction and then coaches them to delivering the results.
Now that I've done it, I can't believe I didn't do this sooner.
I got a hand reading five years ago from Baeth Davis that said that this was exactly what I needed to do. And yet it took me five years to get here.
But I'm not being hard on myself. I'm just grateful that I did figure it out and make this change.
And by writing this, I hope to inspire you to do the same if it's right for you.
With passion,
–Calvin
