Help the kid

Something that's been on my mind a lot lately ...

Whenever you're triggered, emotionally challenged, it's always, and only always, because you're not there for the little boy or little girl that lives inside you.

When you're making that sales call, and you feel scared unworthy ... it's because the little kid inside is having feelings, and you're not there for him or her.

When you're afraid you're not good enough, that you'll get boo'd on stage, that you don't have what it takes ... it's because that boy or girl inside is freaking out, and you're not there for him or her.

Every time, just take a breath deep into your belly, maybe place a hand on our heart and your belly, and in your mind, talk to that boy or girl that lives inside.

Tell him he'll be okay. That you got this. That you'll hold his hand, hug him, protect him, keep him safe, love him, through it all.

That it's not his job to figure this out. That's your job. His job is just to play and have a good time.

He's not supposed to figure out grownup stuff. That's your job. And you'll handle it.

Take a deep breath. Tell him you got this.

And then keep holding his hand while you go on to do what you gotta do.

And don't forget to have fun.

Life's a game. It's supposed to be fun. Enjoy it.
