Say hello to Val!

Please help me welcome the latest addition to the Simplero team, Val Geisler. She joins us to head up onboarding and marketing, something you should be able to feel shortly.

The story of how this came to be is instructional, so allow me to share.

As you may know, we've been searching for someone to do this for us for a while, unsuccessfully. We've had a few hires, but they didn't quite work out. I had a feeling that the right person would be someone who was already part of the community, who knew us, knew the business, knew the product. I was waiting for that person to show up. While waiting, we were still searching through the usual channels, but it wasn't really yielding anything.

I was thinking about Val, because she was a customer back in the day, and we even talked about hiring her to do customer support a few years back, but for whatever reason we never pulled the trigger on it. And then one day, I saw her writing emails for ConvertKit, and they were really good, and so I was kinda bummed that I'd let that one slip.

Fast-forward to a little over a month ago, and I get an email from Val, promoting one of her own offerings, and I loved both the concept and the writing so much that I just wrote her back to tell her that.

That one reply lead to a longer conversation that eventually led to the time being right for Val to join us in this position, and it's just been super beautiful since then. Her energy and her skills fit perfectly on the team, and we're all very excited. You can expect to hear a lot more from her in the coming months.

I love it when things just end up working themselves out more beautifully and elegantly than one could ever have planned or imagined. It's so beautiful to see that struggle and frustration is never required. When we're open and willing and act on our impulses, solutions materialize out of thin air.

So go out and allow things to happen for yourself in the same way, and share the story.

I'll soon share a story from one of our customers that has a similar theme, though about something very different, and it's so good! I'll be doing an interview, and I'm really looking forward to hearing all the juicy details of this one. Stay tuned!

With love,
–Calvin

Did You Know You Could Do This?

Automations can automate a lot of things for you in your business and give you more flexibility than an auto response in a list.

Here are our top 5 tips about Automations:

  1. It is easy to use Automations for Marketing Sales Funnels
  2. Make sure to have a trigger to stop or pause the automation if a user unsubscribes from an email list or cancels a product.
  3. Did you know you can now have your users re-enter an automation flow?
  4. Automations give you flexibility and more custom options than auto responses.  You can send emails every Monday,  ever 5th day of the month or even at a set time for the users time zone! As well as mixing emails, text messages, wait steps and other action items like space access.
  5. If you think an automation sounds like a great idea for your needs, don't hesitate to convert your auto responses over with just a click of a button!

New Features in Simplero

Until now, it's only been able to send auto-responses once – and that was it. But, what if you wanted to use the same set of auto-responses a year later with some potential overlap in the recipients, or on a month-long product every time someone purchases the product? Not possible – at least not without converting everything to an automation.

To make everyone's lives a bit easier, this week we've added the ability to reset auto-responses for a recipient. You can either do this with a trigger – for example when someone subscribes to a list or activates a product – or perform it as a one-time action on a segment by picking either Reset auto-responses for a list subscriber or Reset auto-responses for a product participant. We know it's a small thing, but we hope it'll make everything a little simpler when working with simple auto-responder series.

In addition to this, we've also made a few updates to the newly introduced order bumps so customers can now see the full costs involved in adding an order bump to their order.

Make it a great week!
